The Hunt

13.05-22.05.2022
Aegviidu, Estonia

Event summary

Most of us have noticed how difficult it is to learn when the subject is boring or the teaching methods are way too formal. But have you ever noticed how much easier it is to learn when you are having fun at the same time? At Youth Europa, we have figured out how to immerse people in an experience that they will never forget. “The Hunt” is a training course in which we will learn how to use the treasure hunt method for learning and teambuilding. The basic idea of this method is very simple – groups of participants follow a storyline, interact with various characters and work together to complete challenges. This, however, involves quite a bit of planning, creativity, risk management and so on. All of these topics and much more will be covered as we embark on a journey to create the most memorable learning experiences for young people.

Who should participate in such a training course? Well, we are welcoming everyone who is already involved in the youth field or wants to get closer to youth work in general. That doesn’t mean that you need to be working at a youth center, but we do expect you to be motivated to carry out new projects and workshops in Youth Europa or other organisations, at a school, youth center or pretty much anywhere else. No matter what kind of background you have, you are welcome in this training course to learn about ways you can bring people together and facilitate activities that have an impact on future generations.

32 participants from Estonia, Spain, Slovakia and Greece will come together to participate in 8 action-packed activity days. It’s an ideal opportunity for you to learn something new, network with likeminded people and create materials together that can be used by youth workers across the world.

Where you'll be staying

Venue & Location

The venue is located in a secluded place surrounded by extraordinary scenery. It has a calming charm and relaxing vibe that is away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The big wooden houses seem like something out of Game of Thrones and make the whole accommodation very unique. When walking around the place, you will definitely meet some chickens, horses and other animals. No worries though, they are really friendly!
Our participants will be accommodated in single and double rooms which resemble small wooden cabins rather than a modern house. We will try to spend as much time outside as possible, but the venue also offers some great amenities.

Place includes:
  • Modern Finnish sauna
  • Estonian smoke-sauna
  • Hot tub
  • Rustic seminar room
  • Possibility to hike in the beautiful forests
  • Cozy indoor spaces
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served at the same location every day and we are also providing vegetarian options!

We truly believe that this is the perfect place to thoroughly enjoy the company of new-found friends, big healthy doses of clean fresh air, and participating in the planned activities. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a unique and picturesque part of Estonia.

Discover non-formal learning!

What can you expect?

The Program

The program is designed in a way that everything starts with ice-breaking and we will gradually move deeper into the topic. The days will be filled with workshops, games and other activities that spark your creativity and make this whole experience really engaging. Experienced trainers will guide you along this journey and the event will be a collaborative experience from start to finish. You will learn about non-formal learning, how to create the coolest treasure hunt experiences for people and how to keep your participants safe while doing it. Not only that, but you will also improve your ability to speak in public, improvise, deal with difficult situations and coordinate people like a pro.

The Networking

It doesn’t matter if you are an introvert or an extrovert, you can look forward to making many awesome friends. We’ll spend more than a week together with 32 fun and energetic people in the middle of vast Estonian forests, sounds like an adventure, doesn’t it? It’s common for the participants to stay in touch long after the event has finished, so don’t miss out on this unique chance. If you ever felt the need to connect with new friends, there is no better opportunity than this one. It’s also an ideal way to join Youth Europa and work together with passionate activists who want to bring non-formal education to the masses.

The Impact

There are many small events out there that teach you bits and pieces about many topics. This project is all about the treasure hunt and is going to have a clear impact on the youth. After learning about the method, we will create templates and materials together that others could use to teach important topics to young people in an engaging way. The work that you do will not go straight to a trash bin but will earn its place in youth field!

Have fun while developing yourself!

Social program

Despite the more serious nature of this event (compared to youth exchanges), there will be plenty of additional activities. We have prepared a fun social program that will make sure that nobody goes home without a few new friends. No matter if you’re an extrovert or an introvert, you will find your place here. Throughout the training course, there will be small but fun games that help us become more united, learn about each other and build meaningful relationships. It’s the perfect opportunity to find international friends and even cooperation partners to become involved in future projects.
