The facilitator draws a straight line on the floor or uses a long rope. He/She then asks the participants to stand themselves on the line/rope in random order, all looking in one direction. At the facilitator’s command, they should organize themselves alphabetically according to their first names while keeping at least one leg at the line/rope at all times. While doing so, the participants tell each other their names and get to know each other. The facilitator can now check if the order is correct by asking everyone to say their name loudly (one by one). The facilitator can use other variations, as well, such as “organize yourselves according to the month in which you were born; according to your shoe size, etc.”
Tip:
The facilitator can make the game more interesting by asking the participants to not communicate with each other verbally, only by hand gestures.
