Whether you are walking down the street listening to a podcast, reading the news, or scrolling down the Instagram feed, there is no avoiding media in this day and age. The digital era we’re living in has brought a wealth of information at our fingertips. So much in fact, that it might feel overwhelming and increasingly difficult to navigate the media landscape without falling prey to misinformation, disinformation and manipulative marketing techniques or simply without getting buried in heaps of mediocre content.
With new media becoming inextricable parts of our daily lives, we need to brace ourselves and get media literate. For us, media literacy is not only about being responsible and critical as a consumer, but also about being an innovative contributor. That’s why this youth exchange embraces both sides of the coin:
· we are going to work on developing the skills necessary to critically analyse and evaluate information, recognize manipulative techniques, and stay safe online;
· and by developing and practicing our creativity and digital skills, we will turn ideas into action by creating valuable and worthwhile content.
This project will gather 40 young adults coming from Estonia, Greece, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden who want to develop themselves more in the topics of media literacy and creativity, make a difference in their communities, and make memories all while being surrounded by wintertime mountains and a great group of international people. If that sounds like you, keep reading!
