Big Fat Pony

All the participants stand in a circle. The facilitator starts to run around inside the circle and sings a song.

  • “Here we go with the big fat pony. Here we go with the big fat pony. Here we go with the big fat pony, early in the morning.”

With the last word of the verse, the person running inside the circle stops in front of a person standing in the circle and starts dancing and singing with him/her.

  • “Front, front, front, my baby. Back, back, back, my baby. Side, side, side, my baby, early in the morning.”

You can use the following dance moves:

  • Rhythmically clapping on your thighs during “Front, front, front, my baby.”
  • Rhythmically clapping on your buttocks during “Back, back, back, my baby”
  • Shaking your hips to the left and right during “Side, side, side, my baby, early in the morning.”

Then the person dancing takes the person in front of him/her and both of them start running around in the circle singing:

  • “Here we go with the big fat pony. Here we go with the big fat pony. Here we go with the big fat pony, early in the morning.”.

Again with the last word of the verse, they stop in front of another person (both stop in front of different people). They both dance again, and when finished, take the person with them to run around in the circle. This continues as long as the facilitator wants, or all participants are running around and singing the verse.

Things to keep in mind…
  • You can modify the dance moves and the verse itself however you want, but keep it simple.
  • In bigger groups, you can start with more than one person to quicken the energizer’s pace.
